Today is World Food Day. Celebrate by joining in Slow Food USA's Eat Local Challenge. Shorewood Farmers Market is here for local food purchases each Sunday in October.
Challenge your friends to put only local, seasonal food on their tables for three weeks from October 16 to November 5, 2017: https://www.slowfood.com/eat-local/
Three lucky contestants will win a free ride to Terra Madre Salone del Gusto 2018 in Italy (generously offered by our friends at @[110270970151:274:Slow Food USA]).
Do you know how many miles your food has traveled? Simple question, yet it is fundamental for the future of our planet. If you choose local food from small-scale producers, you’re reducing emissions, supporting your local economy, and what’s more, you’re eating fresher, healthier, more delicious food!
So, how does the challenge work?
1) From Oct. 16 - Nov. 5, fulfill your pledge!
2) Invite your friends and family to join. It’s more fun with a group!
3) Post photos on social media of what eating locally means to you using #SlowFood #EatLocal #MenuForChange.
4) To be eligible for a prize, submit either:
-> a recipe using your local foods and a photo of the final dish,
-> a short poem including the words “Slow Food” and “eat local,” or
-> a short video of you buying or cooking with local foods.
Publish this on social media with #SlowFood #EatLocal #MenuForChange (make sure your post is public) or email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
